Broad General Education
All pupils will gain a foundation in practical cookery skills and diet, nutrition and health across their S1 and S2 years.
In S1 and S2, all pupils follow the curriculum for excellence course, mostly at level 3. This includes a grounding in:
Food preparation
Food safety
Nutrition
Menu planning
The courses develop vital life skills for young pupils, open their eyes to the creative possibilities of producing their own food, and give them an understanding of the importance of a balanced diet, health and nutrition.
The range of options open to pupils in S3-6 stretches from National 4 (National 3 on demand) practical courses, right up to Higher and, again on demand, Advanced Higher Health and Food Technology.
